Paisley celebrated Halloween with a spectacular series of outdoor arts performances aimed at highlighting Paisley’s historic connection with witches with ‘The Paisley Halloween Festival 2018’ on Saturday 27 October.

Thousands of people lined the procession along New Street, Causeyside Street, Gauze Street to Paisley Abbey and Paisley Town Hall, where there was an aerial performance – ‘The Flying Witches’.

Paisley Halloween Festival was organised through various partnerships including Paisley.is

More than 500 young people from Paisley and Renfrewshire including costumed performers took part in the parade on Saturday evening.

There was a ‘spooky twist’ with a giant Witch and Cauldron and a ‘Day of the Dead’ funeral scene and interactive Pumpkin Patch Man, who were all part of the ghoulish parade.

This Halloween event showed so much Renfrewshire talent, which also put a spotlight on the creative input of Paisley’s young people.  The day also brought lots of visitors to Paisley town centre.  One local was heard to say: “I have never seen so many people in the High Street!”

Paisley’s town centre pubs including The Bull Inn in New Street, The Wee Howff in the High Street, The Last Post in County Square and The Old Swan in Smithhills Street were all full of happy people enjoying festival atmosphere.
