How to listen

You can listen to Paisley FM in multiple ways and on multiple devices. Engineering test transmission are due to start in early January 2019 on 107.5 MHz FM to Paisley, Renfrew, Johnstone and across Renfrewshire.  DAB+ digital radio transmission is expected to commence before Christmas 2018.  On DAB, search for ‘Paisley FM’ or manually tune to Block 10B frequency 211.648 MHz

This includes on a regular portable FM radio or a traditional ‘hi-fi’ system around the home or in the workplace; when on the move in the car or any other type of vehicle, by using the in-car dashboard tuner; using your mobile phone or tablet; on a laptop or desktop computer and finally, on a ‘Smart Speaker’ using voice commands with Alexa.

Paisley FM broadcasts on two separate transmitted wavebands.

To Paisley and Renfrewshire on the analogue FM waveband at 107.5 MHz – that’s up at the very ‘top of the dial’ where you can go no further!

To the Glasgow city area on the DAB digital radio waveband.  Stations or ‘programme services’ are usually shown on the digital display alphabetically.  So just scroll along  until you reach PAISLEY and press ‘select’ on your DAB portable or in the car. Paisley FM transmits on DAB using the superior AAC coding which is the DAB+ version of Digital Audio Broadcasting.  DAB+ was introduced in 2011 to provide more robust reception and improved audio quality.

It would be a good idea to save PAISLEY as one of your stored stations/services.  Most DAB digital radio sets let you hold down on the Select button for  two or three seconds to save the service. If you can’t find PAISLEY on your DAB radio or DAB in your car, your digital radio may need to do a ‘full auto tune’ or ‘full-scan’.  Press on the Autotune or Autoscan button for 3 seconds and the radio will do a ‘full auto scan’ and it is likely that you will received PAISLEY.  Make us one of the pre-set favourites!

FM waveband: PAISLEY will be displayed if the radio has RDS (Radio Data System, which is a basic text and data display for FM radio broadcasting) and most hi-fi tuners have this facility (as pictured left) together with portable radio sets. RDS is standard as part of the in-car entertainment/radio systems. Listening on the move in car or any vehicle to Paisley FM 107.5 covers Paisley, Renfrew, Johnstone and across Renfrewshire.  There is also in-car reception over a wider area to include parts of west and south Glasgow plus West Dunbartonshire to include Clydebank.

Echo connects to the Alexa Voice Service to play Paisley FM. All you have to do is ask: “Alexa, play Paisley FM”.  There are other Smart Speakers, including from Google with Google Home. This brings the power of Google and the convenience of voice-interaction into the living room with a Google Home hands-free smart speaker. Powered by Google Assistant, you can ask it questions, and tell it to do things. And with support for multiple users, it can distinguish your voice from others in your home so you get a more personalised experience.  It’s your own Google, always ready to help. Just start by saying “Ok Google…play Paisley FM”.

If you’ve got a Google Home or Google Assistant-powered device just say “OK Google, Play Paisley FM”.

If you’ve got an Amazon Echo or a device with Alexa, for the first time say “Alexa, open Paisley FM” and then afterwards you can just say “Alexa, play Paisley FM”.
